E15 drives Engine Performance

E15 is trusted by millions of americans

Americans have traveled over 40 billion miles on E15. This superior fuel blend is designed to deliver exceptional performance, aimed at boosting octane levels and promoting a combustion process that is both cleaner and more efficient than traditional gasoline.

In 2011, E15 was approved by the EPA for all light-duty vehicles model year 2001 and newer, as well as all Flex Fuel vehicles.

E15 is a fuel blend engineered with 15% bioethanol, and is compatible with over 245 million cars, trucks, and SUVs nationwide, representing a staggering 96% of vehicle miles traveled.

Notably, major automotive manufacturers, including the Big Three, have extended warranties surrounding the utilization of E15 across their entire range of new liquid fuel vehicle models. Exhaustive analysis conducted by the U.S. Department of Energy's test program has conclusively demonstrated no statistically significant impact in vehicle performance: including emissions, fuel economy, and maintenance considerations, when using E15 as opposed to straight gasoline.

E15 and your engine: Get The Facts

  • E15 is the most thoroughly tested fuel in history.

Scientists at the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy carefully analyzed the impact of E15 on drivability, catalyst durability, fuel pumps, seals, diagnostic systems, fuel system components, fuel economy, and exhaust emissions in 80 vehicles, accumulating more than 6 million miles while operating on the fuel.

  • Bioethanol can help your car run cooler and cleaner.

It is a natural, biodegradable high-octane additive. By effectively diminishing engine knock and pinging, it can actively eradicate detrimental deposits from your fuel system, such as gum. It also provides essential protection to your gasoline line to prevent it from freezing in the cold of winter.

  • E15 will not damage your engine.

Over the past decade, not a single confirmed case of “engine damage” or inferior performance attributable to E15 has been reported. In addition, nearly all automakers warranty new vehicles for E15 and have for many years.

E15 IS ready-made for retailers

E15 is offered at more than 3,000 retail locations across 31 states. Most of the existing fuel infrastructure in the United States is, in fact, E15 ready.

According to numerous reports by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Steel Tank Institute, and Fiberglass Tank and Pipe Institute, most underground storage tanks made in the last 30 years are approved up to 100% ethanol, and most fuel dispensing equipment is already manufacturer-approved for E15.

Since the 1980s petroleum equipment manufacturers have offered compatible products for blends above 10% ethanol, including storage tanks, piping, valves, hanging hardware, dispensers, hoses, and nozzles, as standard equipment.
