Montana Becomes 49th State To Approve The Sale Of E15
Montana has become the 49th state to approve the sale of E15 following updated fuel regulations that went into effect on Jan. 1. The fuel blend, which contains 15 percent ethanol, can now be sold in all states except California.
Growth Energy welcomed Montana’s approval of the fuel blend. "This is great news for Montana drivers who will soon have access to a lower-cost fuel option at the pump,” said Emily Skor, CEO of Growth Energy. “By simply updating its fuel regulations, Montana has become the 49th state to give consumers the chance to save money with E15 while using more renewable fuel made in America and increasing our energy independence. We are grateful to the Department of Labor and Industry for making this important update and giving Montana drivers access to E15, which is saving consumers money across the U.S."
The Renewable Fuel Association also applauded Montana for its decision to allow E15 sales. “We are pleased to see Montana has rung in the new year by becoming the 49th state to allow the sale of lower-cost, lower-carbon E15,” said Geoff Cooper, president and CEO of the RFA. “Big Sky Country will now be able to enjoy greater savings at the pump and cleaner skies on the horizon. Now it’s time for the very last holdout--California--to step forward and join the rest of the country in allowing consumers to access the more affordable, cleaner-burning E15 fuel option. As we explained in a recent letter to California's Air Resources Board, the state's refusal to approve E15 means it is subjecting its drivers to higher prices at the pump, more pollution at the tailpipe, and greater GHG emissions in the atmosphere."
